What Does Mercedes-Benz Oil Service Include?

Mercedes-Benz technician serving vehicle for a Mercedes-Benz Oil Change

Mercedes-Benz oil service is essential vehicle maintenance, and it needs to be carried out according to the guidelines laid out in your owner’s manual. Here’s what you can expect from a visit to our service center:

  • Complete a Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement* for model years 2009 and newer as a component of Mercedes-Benz Service Aor Mercedes-Benz Service B
  • Complete an oil change for model years 2008 and older (when not part of Service A/B)
  • Complete Oil Filter Replacement* using genuine parts
  • Recycle the old filter

When is Mercedes-Benz Oil Service Required?

For models made during and after MY-2009, Mercedes-Benz Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement is carried out as part of your standard Mercedes-Benz Service A** or Service B** appointment:

  • The precise timing of this visit, as well as the additional services we’ll carry out when you deliver your vehicle, are determined by your ASSYST Plus service tracker.
  • Generally speaking, you’ll schedule either Service A** or Service B** roughly once per year, or once every 10,000 miles^, according to the Mercedes-Benz service schedule.
  • However, where you drive and how you drive can both have an impact on the lifespan of your synthetic oil. Get familiar with your owner’s manual and pay close attention to the indicator lights on your dashboard.

While Service A** and Service B** will both include Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement, there are some differences between the two appointments that Mclean and Great Falls drivers should keep in mind.

Synthetic Oil vs. Regular Oil

All Mercedes-Benz vehicles require high-quality synthetic motor oil, but what is synthetic oil exactly? Simply put, synthetic oil is a combination of standard motor oil, powder additives, and carrier oil for even distribution. Additionally, synthetic oil undergoes a much more extensive process of refinement. It may be distilled, purified, and broken down at the molecular level in order to offer a level of performance that standard oil just can’t match. Even if your vehicle doesn’t require synthetic oil, you may decide it’s worth the extra cost. That’s because it offers benefits including:

  • Less friction on your engine at the molecular level
  • Reduction in deposits and build-up
  • Reduction in unclean emissions
  • More reliable performance in extreme heat or cold
